Every other week we get the same email: "Hey, just trying to gauge — how much does it cost to build an MVP?" The honest answer is "it depends", but that's useless. So here's the version we wish someone had sent us five years ago — actual rupee ranges by what you're building, in 2026, from a Bengaluru-based dev shop that's quoted hundreds of these.
The short version
A landing page is ₹35k–₹1.5L. A working mobile or web MVP is ₹2L–₹8L. An AI-powered MVP is ₹4L–₹15L. Anything cheaper is either AI-generated slop you'll regret in 3 months, or someone underbidding to lock you in. Anything dramatically more expensive is over-scoped for an MVP.
1. Landing page or microsite (₹35,000 – ₹1,50,000)
What you get: A pixel-perfect marketing site or pre-launch waitlist page. Custom design, 2–6 sections, contact form, basic analytics, CMS-light copy editing, mobile responsive, SEO-ready, hosted on Vercel/Netlify.
Timeline: 1–3 weeks. Honest tip: if you have zero clients yet, this is what you should spend on first. Not the app. A page that converts beats a half-built product nobody knows about.
2. Web SaaS MVP (₹2,00,000 – ₹6,00,000)
What you get: Auth, user dashboard, the core feature, billing (Stripe or Razorpay), admin tooling, deployed and live. Think Linear-but-for-X at v0.1.
Timeline: 4–8 weeks. The number scales with how many entities you're modelling, whether you need realtime collaboration, and how much polish the design needs.
What inflates the price
- Multi-tenancy with role-based permissions (add ~30%)
- Custom design system from scratch vs. building on shadcn/Radix (add ~20%)
- Realtime collaboration / multiplayer (add 40–60%)
- Mobile-app companion (add the mobile MVP cost below)
3. Mobile app MVP (₹2,50,000 – ₹8,00,000)
What you get: React Native or Flutter app, both iOS and Android, with auth, the core feature loop, push notifications, basic analytics, app-store submission handled.
Timeline: 5–10 weeks. iOS-only is ~30% cheaper but you'll wish you hadn't. Android-only is rarely the right call for India unless you have a very specific audience.
4. AI-powered product MVP (₹4,00,000 – ₹15,00,000)
What you get: All of the above, plus a real AI layer — RAG, agents, fine-tuned models, evals, cost monitoring, observability. The premium is because the AI layer takes more engineering hours than the app layer it sits on.
Why the range is so wide: a chat layer on OpenAI is closer to the bottom. A vertical AI agent with tools, structured outputs, evals and a feedback loop is closer to the top. We'll happily explain where on the range you land before you commit.
What changes these numbers (up or down)
- Existing brand assets and design system → take 15–25% off
- Vague spec, frequent changes mid-build → add 30%+ (the worst predictor of cost overrun)
- Compliance (HIPAA, SOC 2, DPDP) → add 25–40%
- You already have a backend or APIs → can take 30% off the build
- "Just like Notion but for X" → red flag, almost always under-scoped
What we actually quote vs. what cheap shops quote
We've had clients come to us with quotes 60% lower than ours. Almost always one of three things: (1) the vendor will charge change-orders later that double the price, (2) the codebase will be unmaintainable and need rewriting in year two, or (3) it's AI-generated boilerplate the vendor has no real understanding of. Pick your trade-off knowingly.
